2010.01.31 - Quail Spots

Quail Spots

Today has made for a relaxed birthday.  For breakfast - pancakes and bacon.  For lunch - quail egg salad.  For dinner - lamb shanks.

2010.01.30 - Fillmore Market

Fillmore Market

In the past I have written about the farmers market in Alemany.  This is another great farmers market (http://www.thefillmoredistrict.com/dss_pages/dss_farmersmarket.html).  It is quite a bit smaller than the Alemany market but you can still find everything you need.

2010.01.29 - Swift

Swift

I took this with the camera phone while riding shotgun.  It is rainy in San Francisco and it made for some ideal moody lighting in the Presidio's 'eucalyptus forest'.

Winding Down

Patterns and Light

I love the feeling natural wood gives to an interior.  It can be formal, informal, ecclectic, (anything really) and still give depth and warmth.  I was in Pacific Heights today and snapped these two shots from the same house . . . what a contrast.

2010-01-26 - Rough Life

Rough Life

I had a good time at a Meetup.com meetup for the San Francisco SmugMug Photographers group (http://www.meetup.com/SanFranSMUG/) where Lisa Wiseman (http://www.lisawiseman.com/) presented on a variety of things ranging from how she markets herself to how she sees the world.  Lisa takes some fantastic photos and it was great to hear her perspective.

2010.01.25 - Porcelain

Porcelain

I love old bathrooms.  The hexagonal tile, the clunky sinks the cast iron tubs . . . good things.

2010.01.24 - Left Hanging

Left Hanging

I was putting up crown molding today and got a little tired (and frustrated).  Thus I left the hammer hanging.

Bumpy

I went to the symphony tonight and had a great time.  You may recognize these 'bumps' turned 180 degrees.

Speeding Lights

I snapped this photo of cars driving in downtown San Francisco rain.  I like how the gum on the road adds texture.

Rendering

This is a watercolor rendering I am currently working on.

2009.01.18 - Wet Wellies

Wet Wellies

Today is the first day of the big Norther California storm(s).  My car started to get flooded . . . weird as it was parked on a hill slope . . . and I ran out to save it in my wifes Wellies (a tight fit).  On the way a car splashed me and I had to wade through a couple feet of water, which soaked me.  When I got back home I had to pour the water out of the wellies.  Good times.

2010.01.16 - Model Shoot

I attended an off camera flash workshop today and had a great time.  Here is a low-res sampling of photos I took:

Laura

Michael

Lindsay

Thank you so much to all of the models (Lindsay, Laura & Michael).  Also big kudos to Christine who instructed us.

The group I shot with consisted of Nikon users.  It was great teaming up with Ira & Lorrie.  Their account can be found at:  http://lightcipher.blogspot.com/2010/01/meetup-fun.html

The workshop I attended was through a Meetup.com group called 'Off camera flash photography'.  A link to this group can be found here:  http://www.meetup.com/off-camera-flash/
Thank you Christine Krieg for leading us (http://www.cksworld.com/, http://www.cksweddings.com/)

Vines
(Yountville, California)

I was at a job site in Yountville today when I briefly stopped to stick my camera out a car window to snap this photo.  Yountville is a great little town that is sure to have something for those seeking epicurean delights (http://www.yountville.com/).

2010.01.13 - Side Light

Side Light

This is another experiment with light writing.  A fellow photo junkie recently started a blog and his first photo was done with multiple lights (http://robvanharken.blogspot.com/).  I tried using multiple lights but they all ended up looking the same . . . I am going to have to figure that one out.  Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy these spooky looking images of the side table I featured in one of my earliest posts.  FYI, these images are best viewed large . . . just click on one of them.  Cheers.
